Albert is as strong as it actually looks.

The Albert Bench is a sturdy piece of furniture with legs that widens where it meets the horizontal rail, which gives the stool a bigger contact point for the critical joining area, a kind of functional decoration.

Launched in 2010, Albert is not only one of Massproductions first products, it’s also the ideal fusion of English and Swedish culture, much like the company itself. Albert is a refined version of the iconic English pub stool which inspired it, with legs in decorative turned wood. The leg widens where it meets the horizontal rail, which gives the stool a bigger contact point for the critical joining area, a kind of functional decoration.

The name Albert refers to its pub heritage, in England many pubs are named after Prince Albert.

A lot of our design started out at the pub. Me and Magnus find it a good place to sit down over a pint to discuss the company, our products and designs. After a while we started to notice the pub bar stool, I guess we spent so much time with it in front of us and started to appreciate some of its characteristics. But maybe the traditional element of decoration is taken into the extreme. So, I wanted to see what happened if I took the decoration down to a minimum.
